Fashion Edit #22 - Fabulous Fairytales

Fashion Edit #22 - Fabulous Fairytales
Couture fashion this year has been truly magical, and that's just what we're here to showcase. The Met Gala 2016 gets a look in too this issue! Featuring some of the most fairytale-worthy get ups you would believe, from knights in shining armour, to princesses in tiaras.
We've got it all in this month's Fashion Edit!

Spotlight on Dolce & Gabbana.

Dolce & Gabbana AW16

The catwalk fairytale explosion of fashion were the crown holders for the fairytale trend. For obvious reasons!:

"The inspiration was fairy tales. Embroidered castles, silk mice, at least seven dwarves and the White Rabbit’s pocket watch were embroidered, tapestried and appliqued across irresistible classic Dolce & Gabbana silhouettes. ... Star pieces include houndstooth swing coats, jewelled, Cinderella crystal shoes" and "embroidered midi skirts and frilled jumpers and the finale of 95 feather-light tulle-backed sequin dresses."

Dolce & Gabbana Haute Couture FW16

"This was not a fashion show, watching these gowns was like viewing a piece of romantic art." It doesn't get more fairytale like than this:

So many fairy tale ball gowns! "... with a gold detailed bustier, and a floor length ball gown detailed in colourful flowers. It was everything I dreamed off a child translated to couture fashion.":

The Met Gala 2016

I suppose, when else can you go all out crazy and have a huge couture train? The Met Gala of course! We spotted celebs akin to princesses, princes, queens & villains this year. Here's a small collection of just how fairytalesque you can get in real life:
Disney starlets Belle, Aurora, & Maleficent made it to the Met Gala this year!
So did Cinderella in the form of Claire Danes & her magnificient show stopping light up ball gown!
Claire Danes in Zac Posen's Illuminatined Ball Gown:

"On the red carpet, the dress didn't technically light up. Instead, the powder-blue hue felt more Disney princess than sci-fi. ... the elegant gown was most impressive in total darkness — not quite the lighting scheme on photographer-clogged step-and-repeats. But there's video evidence, courtesy of Posen's Instagram":

"Posen reveals the fact that Danes had to stand up in a bus in order to be transported to the Met Gala, and that Gala officials had to saw off the back of a chair so that she could be seated more comfortably"!

This amount of show stopping style doesn't come at a little cost.
Makes us wonder how every other fairtale celebrity did getting to the Gala.

Trains at full impact with Rita Ora & Katy Perry.

Knights in shining armour - Gigi Hadid & Zayn Malik.

Astoundingly magical gowns for Zoe Saldana & Kate Hudson.

Fabulous headpieces, fascinators and tiaras - Barbra Streisand, Zoe Kravitz, & Kate Bosworth.

Look like royalty in your own extravagant way with a funny fascinator!
